Evergreen Shrubs For Shade

Nick's carries thousands of species and varieties of plants suited for our climate including many difficult to find items. Below or only SOME of the more popular selections.

Yew

  • Yew – One of the few conifers tolerant of full shade. Yews can be either spreading or upright making it a good choice for problem areas.

Hydrangeas

  • Hydrangea –Most hydrangea flower prolifically even in low light adding bursts of color in shady areas making it an excellent specimen plant. Flower colors range from white, to pink, to deep blue.

Euonymus

  • Euonymus – Euonymus is a moderate to fast growing broadleaf evergreen shrub tolerant of a variety of light conditions all the way up to full shade. Sizes range from smaller ground covers to the large 10’x10’ Manhattan. 

Holly

  • Holly – A deep green broadleaf evergreen displays red berries on female plants. A great deer resistant choice for adding attractive year round color to Eastern or Northern exposures.

Snow Berry

  • Snow Berry – A drought tolerant Colorado native, this tough shrub will thrive in practically any soil and sun condition. Pink flowers in spring give way to white or pink berries that are eaten by birds in the fall. 

Barberry Boxwood

  • Boxwood – A traditional favorite for hedges and borders. The boxwood provides glossy green leaves for yearlong interest.
